What ductless mini-splits involves
A ductless mini-split pairs a compact outdoor condenser with one or more slim indoor air handlers, connected by a small refrigerant line set run through a single wall penetration — no ductwork required. Because each indoor head has its own thermostat, a multi-zone system lets every room run at its own temperature instead of fighting over one central setting. It's the fastest, least invasive way to add real cooling and heating to a room that ducted air was never designed to reach.

Signs you need ductless mini-splits
- A room addition, sunroom, or garage conversion with no ductwork
- Persistent hot or cold spots your central system can't fix
- A workshop, home office, or in-law suite that needs its own comfort control
- Window units you're tired of maintaining, draining, or listening to
- Family members who disagree constantly over the thermostat setting
What to expect during your visit
We size each indoor head to the specific room — square footage, ceiling height, sun exposure, and how the space is used all factor into the BTU calculation, because an oversized head will short-cycle and an undersized one will run constantly without keeping up. Installation involves mounting the indoor unit high on an interior wall, running the line set and condensate drain through a single small penetration, setting the outdoor condenser on a pad or wall bracket, and connecting the electrical whip. Once the line set is pulled to a deep vacuum and charged, we test each zone, pair the remote or app, and walk you through the controls.
Mini-splits have become especially popular in South Florida for detached structures — pool cabanas, garage apartments, home gyms — where extending ductwork isn't practical or affordable. Their inverter-driven compressors ramp up and down instead of switching fully on and off, which does a noticeably better job of controlling humidity in a room than an oversized window unit ever could, and they run quietly enough for lanais and Florida rooms where you actually want to hear the outdoors. They're also efficient enough that running a single zone overnight costs a fraction of conditioning an entire home.
Ductless Mini-Splits FAQs
How many rooms can one outdoor unit cool?
Multi-zone outdoor condensers can typically support two to eight indoor heads, depending on the model and total BTU load — we'll size the system to your specific rooms during the estimate.
Are ductless systems noisy?
No — modern indoor heads run at a whisper-quiet level, and the outdoor condenser is noticeably quieter than most traditional central AC condensers.
Can a mini-split provide heat too?
Yes, most mini-splits installed in South Florida are heat pump systems, so the same unit handles both cooling and the occasional cool front or cold snap.
Can a mini-split be added to a home that already has central air?
Absolutely — mini-splits are commonly added alongside an existing central system to cover a room the ductwork doesn't reach well, without touching your existing setup.
